INDIANAPOLIS – The American Council of Engineering Companies of Indiana (ACEC Indiana) recently recognized Speaker Brian Bosma with the 2014 Virgil Gus Grissom Award at its annual meeting.
Bosma is just the fourth recipient of the award, given to a state legislator who has consistently demonstrated leadership, ethics and positive vision for Indiana. The award has also been bestowed to Sen. Bob Garton in 2005, Sen. Tom Wyss in 2007 and Sen. Jim Merritt in 2013.
Over the years, Bosma has been an advocate for the business community, including consulting engineering firms and ACEC Indiana members. Through close relationships with constituents in this room, he has developed a deep understanding of the important role consulting engineers play in the built environment and economic development generally, which led him to support significant and meaningful legislation on behalf of ACEC Indiana and the Build Indiana Council.
Last year, he was essential in passing legislation to strengthen Indiana’s transportation system through the passage of HB 1002, which allows for up to $400 million to be moved from the Major Moves 2020 Trust Fund to the Major Moves Construction Fund for use by INDOT.
“As you can see, he has stood with us over and over, and now we want to show our appreciation by presenting him special legislative distinction,” said ACEC Indiana President Sanjay Patel.
ACEC Indiana is a trade association representing the business interests of the consulting engineering profession and offers knowledge and services to enhance the quality of life for every citizen in Indiana. Professional Consulting Engineers design road and bridges, clean water and wastewater systems, redevelopment of brownfields and more.
